OWOE - Amazing Energy - electric-aircraft
Sun Fire Electric Plane
The Sun Flyer, an electric airplane designed and built by Aero Electric Aircraft Corporation (AEAC), was introduced at the Centennial airport in Colorado this May (2016). It featured solar panels integrated into its wings, a lithium ion battery, and a 100 kW (135 horsepower) electric motor. Despite having a battery onboard, the electric airplane weighs only 1,654 lbs. In contrast to the other electric powered aircraft presented here in OWOE's Amazing Energy, the Sun Flyer uses solar power to supplement the battery based, electric propulsion system on board. Advanced aeronautics and control systems are also utilized to maximize performance and minimize power usage during flight.

The plane is awaiting FAA approval, at which time it will be the first US made all electric airplane. AEAC says it has received a total of 65 deposits in anticipation of the Sun Flyer airplane deliveries.
